Please note:

  • The initial meeting of the Kankakee Valley Genealogical & Historical Society took place at the Kankakee Public Library on January 16, 1968. A constitution and bylaws were adopted that evening and plans made for a membership drive. In 2025 the decision was made to disband the Genealogical Society after over 50 years of dedicated work. Thank you to our members who saw the work through: Marcia Stang, Betty Schatz, Nelda Ravens, Dale Monty, Doris O'Connor, Harriet Schultz, Rosemary Hedger, and Lee Hollenbeck. Please contact the Kankakee Public Library for Genealogy inquiries. A volunteer is available to assist in the Kankakee Public Library Genealogy Room on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays between 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
